Covenant Care Day Respite provides an invaluable support to home-based long-term care services in the community.
Our Community Respite Care Program opened its doors for service in December 2011. Officially opened on 20 February 2012, Covenant Care is a wonderful example of the gospel in action.
Most terminally ill people want to remain in their own home to their last days. Covenant Care day respite aims to help make this possible by providing this valuable support.
Our day respite offers “A Day with a Difference” for those in our community who are living with a life-limiting illness. An equally important aspect is that it offers each carer a day off to catch up on outstanding matters or to take some time out to relax.
Our experienced registered nurse and cheerful volunteers ensure that the clients and carers know they are in good hands and will be well entertained and cared for while attending our program.
We greatly appreciate the ongoing support of the Canberra Southern Cross Club.
If you, or someone you know, would like to participate in any of our programs, please email nurse@holycovenant.org.au.
The 2014 ACT Volunteer of the Year Awards were held at the National Museum on Tuesday 13 May. The major awards were presented by Major General the Honourable Michael Jeffery and the guest speaker was the Honourable Dr Brendan Nelson.
The Group Award for the “Community Care and Health” category was awarded to “Covenant Care @ Holy Covenant Volunteers”.
